Town of New Tecumseth
Ontario community is 33rd Bee City
Bees and honey are part of the fabric of the community in the Town of New Tecumseth, where we have a long and storied history of apiculture related activities. The famous settler, D.A. Jones, was considered the ‘Bee King of Canada’ and his work and entrepreneurial spirit resulted in the village of Beeton being known as the birthplace of Canadian commercial honey production. The community has continued the celebration of all things bees for decades, hosting the annual Beeton Honey & Garden Festival on the last Saturday of May each year, where visitors can learn about the importance of bees and find vendors selling honey, beeswax products, and flowers and gardening supplies to support bee habitats.
