Niagara Falls
City with world famous falls becomes 13th Bee City
Over the past year, the City of Niagara Falls has maintained currently pollinator gardens and have started a new creation in the main destination park called Firemen’s Park. The new garden will be part of a new Children’s Memorial Walkway. The $160,000 project will feature concrete walkways, a paving stone plaza, irrigation systems, decorative rock, pollinator gardens and honourary butterfly markers. Construction started in mid-2022 and is planned to be completed by late Spring 2023. This is a significant enhancement to the existing pollinator garden inventory within the City.
Additionally, The City has incorporated the promotion of planting pollinator flowers in household garden beds through it’s Summer Trillium Awards Program. This program evaluates front yard curbside landscaping of participating residential and commercial landscapes.
