We need to become a Bee school in order to educate the young child about the importance of bees, what they do, and how we can help them. I believe we could have a better success rate if we were to start with the younger children as they can be such little sponges for information and learning 🙂
Since our community has become a Bee City community I have learnt so much more about the importance of bees and how detrimental it would be if we lost them. I want to start teaching our younger generation’s the same importance. I believe that at our preschool is the perfect place to start.
This year we are first building a garden that will be in the shape of a frog, as we are the frog people. We will also be planting native plants so that the children will be able to pick locally and learn about our traditional foods medicines.
Shawana Riley from T’it’q’et Bee City will come over to teach children and staff about the importance of pollinator protection in accordance with pollinator protection patrol program.
