Our school believes that it is important to keep bees alive! We believe it is important for us to become a Bee School because it helps bring awareness to the community and supports the student’s interests. We have been learning about the importance of the world around us and keeping our planet safe, this includes the bees. We have the benefit of having lots of yard space to build and expand our pollinator garden to give the bees a large space to thrive! We are committed to continuing to learn about bees and to help keep bees protected.
We had a heavy winter in 2022, so we did not have the chance to expand our garden as we initially planned, instead we focused on allowing what was there to continue to grow. This was successful and we have strong garden that thrived all summer long.
We participate in sessions from Bee city, and the students are very active in spreading awareness.
Our plan is to create a pollinator garden in front of our school. This will involve researching plants that grow in our area that will help bees thrive. We have lots of yard space in the front of our school that the bees can use and be left alone to thrive. We also plan to educate our students and our community about bees and why they are so important to our planet. Into the next school year we plan to analyze what is and isn’t working to make a plan to expand and improve the space in the future.
We will be continuing to learn and sharing the information with our school community, friends, family, and community, we will post everything we do to our facebook page. We will also be participating in hands-on learning by getting out into the space and identify the different pollinators that we see and how they interact. We will also be sharing online about pollinator week.
