Being a Bee Partner is important because it aligns with our mission of protecting the environment. Creating a bright and sustainable future for the generations to come include decreasing single use plastic (our main goal) as well as protecting pollinators. Being a Bee Partner also means connecting with community and believing in the power of collective action.
ShareWares is a small start up in Vancouver dedicated to decreasing single use plastics. We offer a systemic solution to the problem that is scalable and doesn’t compromise convenience. We believe that intersectional environmentalism is the only option for moving forward and that everything is connected. Though our main goal is about decreasing single use plastics, we also promote sustainability by our everyday practices, hiring folks with barriers to employment, creating an inclusive and accepting workplace environment and more.
All of our initiatives and work at ShareWares is already sustainability oriented. Because of this, it will be fairly easy to integrate educational opportunities about pollinators and healthy habitats specifically. This will include the UBC farmers market booths first and foremost, but also putting all of the Bee City Canada signage around our work place and hanging up informational posters about bees. We will add some pollinator content to our Community Bulletin Board too and perhaps make a blog post!
