Become a Bee City

Follow these steps to apply

There are two ways to apply. You can either complete the online application form below or download the PDF application and submit through email.

We recommend that the application is completed by a municipal employee(s), your chosen Bee City Liaison(s).

Download the Bee City Canada Draft Resolution form, make any changes as may be necessary, present it to city/band council and have it signed by the Mayor, Chief or appropriate official.

You can either complete the online application form below or download the PDF application and email it to applications@beecitycanada.org.

Email your completed application form and signed resolution along with appropriate logo, photos (if available) and 100 word write-up for social media to applications@beecitycanada.org.

Please list the members of your community‘s Bee City Pollinator Team. This group will oversee your participation in the Bee City program. (Add more rows as needed)

E) Bee City Commitments


I/we, the undersigned, understand that the Bee City Canada program consists of three core commitments, and we will take the indicated actions to support those commitments:

In addition to these three core commitments, I/we, the undersigned, agree to:

  1. Download and complete the Resolution Document and have it signed by your Mayor, Chief, or authorized official. The wording of the resolution can be changed to suit the needs of your community. Email the completed resolution to applications@beecitycanada.org.
  2. Publicly acknowledge Bee City Canada membership through publicly displayed signage, your website, and other means.
  3. Annually renew your Bee City Canada membership. A renewal application will be sent to you and a fee will apply.
  4. Document activities relevant to your Bee City Canada membership (e.g. habitat creation or community engagement activities), as you will be asked to describe these through the annual renewal application. Images and videos of relevant actions are encouraged in the renewal application.

G) Website/Social Media Content


Once you are officially a Bee City Canada member, we will create a page for your community on our website, where we will share your logo and information about your community’s initiatives, including your initial application and the annual renewal applications that you submit. We will also create a social media post to welcome your community. Please provide the following information for the website and our social media post:

Your application will be reviewed within three business days. We will notify you as soon as your application has been approved or promptly request any clarification, if necessary.

J) Bee City Canada’s Commitment


Bee City Canada is committed to publicizing your membership as a Bee City Community through our website and social media. In addition, we will send a welcome email, a digital copy of the Bee City Canada Handbook for Bee City Communities, and a digital Declaration, recognizing your community as a Bee City Community. We will also coordinate an introductory call to meet your Pollinator Team, discuss your community’s pollinator initiatives, and answer any questions that you have.
